Practice Areas
Alex is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate & Transactional, Business, and Security Alarm groups, focusing his practice on the representation of buyers, sellers, borrowers, lenders, and other parties in their commercial real estate and other general business transactions. Alex’s client base includes family offices, development/construction companies, closely held & family owned businesses, and real estate funds, among others.
As part of his real estate and transactional practice, Alex’s experience includes a wide range of commercial real estate transactions, including:
- Purchase and sale transactions;
- Debt and equity financing transactions;
- Development projects;
- Leasing (landlord and tenant); and
- General real estate operations/management matters.
Asset types of focus have included (among others):
- medical office facilities;
- hotels/restaurants and other hospitality;
- multifamily/apartments;
- student housing and other academic/educational complexes;
- shopping centers/retail;
- data/telecom centers;
- office buildings; and
- industrial and warehouse/flex properties.
Alex’s business/general corporate practice includes buying and selling of businesses; entity formation, structuring, and dissolution; loan financing; partner buyouts and other interest transfer transactions; corporate divorce, business separation and management transition; private placements, securities offerings, and subscription/investment documents (including related private equity/capital raises); and partnership/joint venture agreements involving preferred equity, sponsor-promoted interests and other deal structuring varieties. Within the firm’s security alarm group, Alex handles transactions involving the purchase and sale of security alarm companies/assets, financing, interest transfers, and other general corporate matters.
Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Alex is an alumnus of William Penn Charter School. He graduated with honors from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Business Administration, having completed an international business program at ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. Alex went on to graduate from Temple Law School as a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, a Teaching Assistant for the Legal Research & Writing program, and a published Editor of Temple Law Review. He received honors, including the J. Howard Reber Memorial Award for Excellence in Writing, Best Paper distinction for Legal Research & Writing, Dean’s List, Vice President of the Jewish Law Students Association, and a Fellow of the Rubin Public Interest Law Honor Society.
Prior to joining the firm, Alex held internships with the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and a regional commercial real estate brokerage firm. Outside of work, Alex fills his time with golf, basketball with friends he has had since childhood, sitting on the beach or playing tennis with his wife, yard work, Pocono getaways, and chasing around his active kids. Alex and his family proudly support the following nonprofit organizations: The Center for Autism; Main Line Reform Temple; Stoneleigh (Natural Lands); New Jersey Electronic Life Safety Association; Ronald McDonald House; and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Alex proudly serves as a firm delegate for Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW), having represented the firm in Sydney (Australia), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Vancouver (Canada), Mexico City and several U.S. destinations for the organization’s conferences. He has also presented to the LAW organization’s global audience, including its Real Estate & Construction Group.
